I'm delighted to introduce you to VIEUX one of Manchester's most exciting electronic acts. If you're a fan of music that teleports you to another dimension then you need to listen to this phenomenal act. Their last double A Side single Spectrophobia/Nightjar was absolute alchemy!

I'm excited for the future for this band and could see them gracing WHP in Manchester in the not to distant future. I wanted to learn more about the band and what makes them tick so am delighted to share this with you.

How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music before?

We like to experiment with lots of different genres and as a result, our sound varies from song to song. For example, in Guilt and Fear we combine 60s psychedelic rock and synth-pop. Whereas in our new song Spectrophobia we explore techno and industrial.

Who are your main musical influences?

Bridget likes Vladimir Dubyshkin and Soft Blade and Lee is more into Nine Inch Nails and The Prodigy.

Which artist or person has inspired you most in your career in music?

We would have to say Fever Ray after we saw her play in Manchester. That gig made us decide to start VIEUX. Also, her other work in The Knife is a huge influence.

Your latest single ‘Spectrophobia/Nightjar’ is phenomenal! In my review I called it alchemy! I swear to god listening the first time I felt as though I was on a night out and the DJ had just dropped an absolute banger! Is this the vibe you were going for?

Yes, definitely! Our previous EP 31DEC1999 had quite a chilled vibe to it and we needed some hard-hitting songs for our set. We had so much fun making Spectrophobia and you should expect our next release to follow a similar direction.

Are we likely to see an EP or more new music early 2022?

We are currently hard at work preparing our live show for 2022. So, the writing has taken a bit of a back seat for now. We plan to have a large visual element to our live show centred around Bridget's psychedelic video art.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the near future?

We are big fans of David Lynch. We would love to do a soundtrack for one of his surreal films.

If you could give anyone a word of advice in pursuing their dreams to have a career in music what would you tell them?

You should learn how to enjoy and trust the process that goes into creating music. It's a hard career, you should enjoy the small things and make a little bit of progress every day. Also, from our experience, music isn't really a choice. We know for a fact that we couldn't do anything else and be happier in our lives. So, if you feel like you're at a crossroads and don't know if you should pursue music or a different career, maybe music isn't for you. However, if it clearly isn't a choice, then, definitely go for it!
